Brahmavar, Dec 4: GM Vidyaniketan Public School hosted the 9th Annual AICS Conference on the theme “Nurturing value-based skills in children for the schools of the future” for principals of CBSE and ICSE schools from Udupi and Mangaluru districts.
The conference was inaugurated by professor Mathew C Ninan, director of Little Rock Indian School, Brahmavar, who lit the lamp and addressed the gathering. He stated that values cannot be taught to children through lessons alone. He expressed concern about the increasing use of inappropriate language among children today and stressed that principals hold a major responsibility in guiding both students and teachers appropriately. He urged everyone to instil empathy in young minds.
























Prakashchandra Shetty, chairman of the School Management Board, said that the learning environment must help shape students into not only academically strong individuals but also people of good character. He emphasised the need to build children’s futures by nurturing strong values.
AICS president Abhilasha S observed that today’s children, while aspiring for comfortable and luxurious lives, often struggle to build their future and end up taking extreme steps like suicide. Only moral values and ethics can help shape them into responsible citizens, she said.
Former CBSE director G Balasubramanian attended the conference as the chief resource person.
Dr T P Sasikumar, vice-chancellor of Adi Shankara University, Tirupati, spoke on “Educate to elevate – Nurturing capable Minds and Compassionate Hearts.”
Grey Caps founder Giri Balasubramaniam (Pickbrain) spoke on the topic “Future Schools – The Importance of Knowledge beyond the curriculum.”
Principal George Kurian welcomed the gathering.
The conference saw participation from GM Global School executive director Pranav Shetty, Fr Johnson L Sequiera, Suresh Mahal¬ingapur, Fr Rolwin Joy Aranha, AICS members, and principals, vice-principals, and teachers from various schools of Udupi district and Mangaluru.
