Dubai, Nov 28: In a remarkable display of compassion ahead of the 54th UAE National Day (Eid Al Etihad), the rulers of Ras Al Khaimah and Ajman have ordered the release of more than 1,000 prisoners, offering them a renewed chance to rebuild their lives and reunite with their families.

A total of 1,079 inmates across the two emirates will walk free, continuing the UAE’s long-standing tradition of issuing pardons during major national and religious occasions—reflecting the nation’s enduring values of forgiveness, human dignity and social stability.

Reports confirmed that H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, ordered the release of 854 inmates, underscoring his commitment to easing the burdens of families and granting the pardoned individuals an opportunity to turn over a new leaf.

In an extraordinary humanitarian gesture, Sheikh Saud also directed the settlement of all financial liabilities of the released prisoners. This move ensures they begin their new chapter free from debt, enabling them to reintegrate into society with dignity and without the weight of financial hardship.

In Ajman, H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, joined the collective act of goodwill by pardoning 225 prisoners ahead of the National Day celebrations. The decision, made in coordination with the Ajman Police General Headquarters, focuses on strengthening family bonds and restoring stability in households as the nation prepares for its landmark celebration.

Authorities have not released the names or personal details of the pardoned individuals to preserve privacy and uphold rehabilitation principles. The amnesty likely includes inmates who have displayed good behaviour or completed a substantial portion of their sentence. Officials emphasised that such pardons, regularly granted during national occasions, serve as a reminder of the UAE’s commitment to social harmony, compassion and communal welfare.

The announcements, made through official channels and government media, once again highlight the UAE’s steadfast dedication to offering second chances and fostering a more inclusive, merciful society.
