Mumbai, Nov 28: The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 mega auction lived up to its hype, offering a dramatic blend of record-breaking bids, unexpected omissions, and intense franchise strategies. From Indian stars commanding massive sums to global icons going unsold, the auction produced several headline-grabbing moments.
India’s premier all-rounder Deepti Sharma emerged as the costliest player of the day, securing a staggering Rs 3.2 crore deal from UP Warriorz, who exercised their Right to Match (RTM) card to retain her services. New Zealand star Amelia Kerr, last season’s joint-highest wicket-taker, was snapped up by Mumbai Indians for Rs 3 crore, reflecting her growing stature in world cricket. Fellow Kiwi Sophie Devine fetched Rs 2 crore, joining the Gujarat Giants lineup.

Australia’s Meg Lanning was another major name who attracted attention, landing a Rs 1.9 crore deal with UP Warriorz. South African opener Laura Wolvaardt was picked by Delhi Capitals for Rs 1.1 crore, while India pacer Renuka Singh was acquired by the Giants for Rs 60 lakh.
In one of the biggest surprises of the auction, Australian captain and star wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy went unsold despite a base price of Rs 50 lakh, leaving fans and experts stunned.
