Abu Dhabi, Nov 21: The United Arab Emirates has been named the world’s third-biggest humanitarian donor for 2025, according to updated data from the UN’s Financial Tracking Service (FTS). The recognition, highlighted by Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, underscores the UAE’s growing stature as a nation committed to “timely, effective relief for people in crisis.”
The UAE now stands just behind the United States and the European Union, surpassing every other single donor nation in scale and impact of global assistance—a remarkable achievement that reinforces its expanding humanitarian influence.

The ranking is backed by striking numbers. The UAE contributed USD 1.46 billion in humanitarian assistance for 2025, accounting for 7.2% of total global aid tracked by the UN, which reached USD 20.28 billion. But beyond the financial weight, officials say the country’s approach is guided by a firmly rooted humanitarian philosophy.
Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan stated that the ranking reflects the UAE’s unwavering commitment to global solidarity under the leadership of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He emphasised that the UAE’s humanitarian mission serves people “regardless of origin, race, religion, belief, or geography,” reinforcing a non-political, values-driven approach.
The UAE’s global relief footprint continues to widen. According to UN OCHA data, the country has responded swiftly to major international crises—from conflict zones to natural disasters—delivering aid that includes food, medical supplies, shelter materials, and large-scale recovery support.
Palestine remains the biggest recipient, receiving nearly 14.9% of the UAE’s total humanitarian funding for 2025. Since late 2023, over 90,000 tonnes of aid have been delivered to Gaza alone. Significant contributions have also been directed to Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, and Afghanistan, reflecting the UAE’s commitment to communities facing war, displacement, and economic collapse.
Through rapid emergency interventions and sustained long-term recovery efforts, the UAE continues to play a pivotal role in global humanitarian response—securing its position as one of the world’s most dependable and influential donors.
