Rohtak, Nov 21: In a dramatic late-night development, Haryana Police arrested four suspects, including the victim’s brother, in the shocking honour killing of 23-year-old Sapna from Kahni village. The arrests were made following an encounter on the Ladhot–Bohar road on Thursday, marking a major breakthrough in the case that has triggered widespread outrage.

Police said all four accused — Sanju and Rahul of Kahni village, and Ankit alias Baba and Gaurav of Rukhi village in Sonepat — sustained bullet injuries in their legs during the exchange of fire. They were immediately shifted to PGIMS for treatment. Officers recovered four pistols, ten live cartridges, two magazines and a motorcycle from their possession.

The case centres around the brutal murder of Sapna, who was allegedly shot dead at her in-laws’ house on Wednesday night. Her brother Sanju, accompanied by three accomplices, reportedly opened fire inside the home. Sapna’s brother-in-law, Sahil, was injured while attempting to shield her.

According to preliminary investigations, the killing stemmed from deep-rooted family resentment. Sanju was reportedly furious over Sapna’s decision to marry a youth from the same village more than three years ago, a choice the family had strongly opposed.
