Former Calangute Sarpanch slams Manohar airport over ‘unfair’ parking charges

Daijiworld Media Network - Calangute

Calangute, Nov 20: Strongly criticising the parking management system at Manohar International Airport, former Calangute sarpanch and ex-Zilla Panchayat member Shawn Martin has demanded an immediate review of exit procedures to prevent travellers from being wrongly penalised.

Martin said that he himself was unfairly charged Rs200 on Saturday, despite reaching the exit gate within the designated five-minute grace period. Explaining the incident, he said the delay occurred due to another vehicle ahead of him taking time to complete its payment, leaving him stranded at the barrier through no fault of his own.

Calling the current system “too tight and unjust,” Martin said the airport cannot punish passengers for operational delays at the exit. He described the practice as unacceptable and tantamount to cheating, stressing that the grace period is insufficient given the frequent queue build-ups and slow processing at the payment booths.

He urged the Manohar International Airport authorities to immediately correct these systemic issues to ensure that travellers are not subjected to unfair fines due to process inefficiencies.
