Mangaluru: Customers storm BMR Group office in Suratkal after alleged non-refund of funds

Mangaluru, Nov 20: The menace of lucky schemes has intensified in the Surathkal, Katipalla, and Krishnapura areas, where several such schemes have already absconded after allegedly cheating customers of crores of rupees. Adding to this list, BMR Group has now come under scrutiny after customers laid siege to its office on Thursday morning, accusing the company of failing to return their money.

Surathkal Police arrived at the spot soon after receiving information about the commotion. According to customers, BMR’s Dawood Hakim had previously assured them that their money would be refunded, but no repayment has been made so far. With crores reportedly at stake, frustrated customers raided the office in protest.

It is said that Surathkal police have taken the BMR chief to the station for inquiry.

Despite several lucky scheme operators disappearing with public money in the past, people continue to fall prey to such schemes. Customers alleged that attractive offers are used to lure them, and once the money is collected, they are left with no option but to approach the police for help.
