Karkala, Nov 20: Shagun S Verma, a class 9 student of Christ King English Medium High School, Karkala, has been selected to represent India at the World School Girls’ Volleyball Championship in the Under-15 category, organized by the School Games Federation of India.
She is the only player from Karnataka to secure a place in the national U-15 Indian volleyball team. The international championship will be held in Shangluo, China, from December 4 to 13. Shagun will proudly represent India and bring honour to Karkala on this global stage.

Shagun S Verma is the daughter of Sandesh Verma and Shrutiraj of Kallotte.
Shagun Verma Hegde was finally selected in the AYKE training camp held in Ranchi from October 24 under the auspices of the School Games Federation of India. Out of the 12 players who have made it to the national team, Shagun Verma Hegde is the only player from Karnataka to be selected.
She has received sports training from Santosh D'Souza, Jeevan D'Silva, Jairaj Poojary and Ramesh of SDM Ujire at the Joduraste Korachottu Stadium.
