Moodbidri, Nov 17: “Good health is not just about curing illness, but preventing it,” said Dr Avani, a medical student at Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Naturopathy and Yoga Sciences, emphasising the importance of dietary discipline, daily exercise and a stress-free lifestyle in achieving holistic well-being.
Addressing members of the Daregudde Somnatheshwara Sanjivini Model Cooperative during a state-wide awareness campaign organised as part of the National Naturopathy Day celebrations, which began on November 10, Dr Avani stressed that proactive care is a cornerstone of naturopathy.

“Instead of worrying about curing a disease after it arises, we should take preventive measures to ensure that illness does not occur in the first place,” she said, highlighting the significance of naturopathy in promoting long-term health.
The programme was organised under the aegis of Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Naturopathy and Yoga Sciences and its hospitals in Ujire, in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare, the Ministry of AYUSH, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru, and the Indian Association of Yoga and Naturopathy Graduates.
Naturopathy students Keertana and Ramya were also present, providing participants with additional insights on holistic health practices.
The event began with a welcome address by Jayalakshmi, president of the Daregudde Somnatheshwara Sanjivini Model Cooperative, followed by the felicitation of speakers and participants.
