Udupi, Nov 17: St Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady, celebrated its annual creativity festival Prathibha Sinchana 2025 at its auditorium. The event, known for its non-competitive spirit, focuses on nurturing the creative abilities of students by giving them a platform to showcase their talents with emphasis on participation and expression over perfection. This year’s celebration, themed ‘St Mary’s Talent Show & Fun Fair 2025,’ was filled with vibrant cultural displays, joyful performances, and enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and parents.

The school welcomed Remona Evette Pereira, an acclaimed Bharatanatyam dancer and Golden Book of Records holder for the longest continuous classical dance performance, as the chief guest. The event was also graced by correspondent Fr Charles Menezes, principal Fr Vijay D’Souza, vice principal Rita Quadros, members of the School Management Committee, and the school leaders head boy Snehal S Hegde and head girl Navya R Shetty.

The festivities began with the inauguration of St Mary’s Fun Fair 2025 and Prathibha Sinchana by Remona Pereira. A major attraction of the inauguration was a magnificent six-foot Yakshagana replica artwork, representing the rich cultural heritage of coastal Karnataka. Designed and crafted by art teacher Jagadish Acharya, the artwork received much admiration.

St Mary’s also took pride in honouring its students for their accomplishments. Achievers from Kindergarten to grade 6 were announced by Smitha D’Souza, followed by the felicitation of senior achievers from grade 7 to grade 12. Vinaya Suvarna was felicitated for receiving the Best Teacher Award 2025, while Amratha Sandeep was honoured for achieving the Kankashri National Award for her exceptional achievements in the field of poetry writing and singing in Kannada language, by the District Kannada Sahitya Parishad, Dharwad. A citation on chief guest Remona Pereira was read by Shruthi D’Souza, after which she was felicitated by the dignitaries.

In her inspirational address, Remona Pereira encouraged students to remain committed to their talents, never give up midway, and continue learning with dedication. She urged parents to support and nurture the abilities discovered in their children. Her message deeply resonated with the audience.

Soon after the formal ceremony, the auditorium came alive with a diverse line-up of performances by the students. Children showcased their talents in Eastern and Western dance, presenting energetic, graceful, and well-coordinated group routines. The audience also enjoyed melodious Eastern and Western singing, where young vocalists captivated the crowd with their confidence and musicality. Students who excel in instrumental music displayed impressive skills on the keyboard, guitar, and percussion instruments, adding rhythm and richness to the cultural segment. A delightful magic show by one of the students surprised and entertained the crowd, drawing enthusiastic applause for the creativity and showmanship. The wide variety of performances highlighted the true essence of Prathibha Sinchana—celebrating every form of talent with joy.

A special highlight of the day was the mesmerizing Bharatanatyam performance by chief guest Remona Evette Pereira, whose grace and artistry left the audience spellbound. With an enthusiastic gathering of more than 400 attendees, the auditorium buzzed with energy, creativity, and celebration throughout the event.

The fun fair area was buzzing with excitement as children enjoyed a wide variety of fun games and food stalls put up by the school. Students relished an array of delicious snacks, refreshing drinks, and sweet treats, making the food court one of the most visited corners of the event. The game stalls drew lively participation, with children eagerly trying their hand at ring toss, balloon bursting, lucky dip, and other entertaining challenges. Among all the attractions, the tattoo stall stood out as a favourite—especially for the younger children—who lined up enthusiastically to get colourful temporary tattoos, adding joy and charm to their festive day.

The programme continued with interactive fun events as Helen and Winnifred conducted spot games and housie-housie, keeping the crowd engaged and entertained. The day concluded with a note of gratitude delivered by vice principal Rita Quadros, marking the end of a memorable celebration of talent, culture, and community at St Mary’s. The formal event was compered by Rajashree S Nayak and Dapsy Vaz, while the cultural performances were anchored by Amratha, Poornima Amin, Venilda, and Seema.
