COMCG (West) reviews operational preparedness at New Mangalore ICG Karnataka HQ

Mangaluru, Nov 17: The regional commander, Coast Guard Commander (West), IG Bhisham Sharma, PTM, TM, conducted a four-day comprehensive review of operational, administrative and infrastructure preparedness at Indian Coast Guard headquarter Karnataka at New Mangalore, from November 12 to 17.

During the visit, the flag officer embarked frontline Coast Guard ships Samarth, Saksham, Sachet, Sujeet and Vikram to assess their combat readiness and mission capabilities at sea. The review included evaluation of response mechanisms to maritime threats, operational efficiency, adherence to safety protocols, and performance of personnel during various onboard evolutions.

IG Bhisham Sharma also interacted with officers and men at units ashore, reviewing preparedness levels, infrastructure development and administrative processes vital to coastal security. He lauded the professionalism, hard work and high morale of personnel operating in demanding maritime environments.

Reiterating the Coast Guard’s commitment in safeguarding the nation’s maritime frontiers, the regional commander emphasised the importance of readiness.
