Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School holds Children’s Day celebration

Mangaluru, Nov 16: The Children’s Day celebration at Lourdes Central School was held on November 14 with great enthusiasm and joy, honouring the spirit of childhood and commemorating the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

The celebration began with the arrival of guests led by the teacher’s band into the beautifully decorated LCS Ground. The manager Dr John Baptist Saldanha, principal, Fr Johnson L Sequeira, vice principal, Anitha Thomas, Fr Roydon Misquith, Fr Norman Mathais, Fr Arul Joseph, the 13 little guests starting from the KG Section to class 12 - Amairah Shanawar, Riyanshi R Poojary, Zach Keegan Fernandes, P B Nehan Hamza, Naksha Sthairya S, Ankitha K, Akarsh K B, Nithya Nischal, Nidhi L Shetty, Atharva Prithviraj Bhat, Riah Alisha D’Souza, S Joel Beino Ebenezer, Jahnavi Rao were welcomed with the guard of honour.

The programme began with a prayer service led by Fr Arul invoking God’s blessings for the happiness and well-being of all Lourdites, their family, friends and teachers. The reading from the Bible, Gita and the Quran were conducted by the teachers. Sr Regina prayed for the children and imparted the message that every child was special. A prayer song specially composed for the occasion by Angelina Moras was sung by the teachers.

The welcome address by Anitha Thomas the vice principal, extended a warm greeting to the guests and everyone present, setting the tone for a delightful morning. Each little guest was specially called out by name and welcomed with a rose by Fr Manager.

The thought for the day was read by Asha Shet inspiring everyone to be like a sunflower being bright, sunny and positive with a message to rise, shine and hold your head high.

Teachers from the Kindergarten section beautifully presented the significance of the day where Chacha Nehru came onto stage and reminded everyone that they are Indis’s future and they should not get addicted to technology but get addicted to books.

A heartfelt moment followed as the gathering paid homage to the potrait of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, honouring his vision for the youth of India. The birthday prayer and wishes by Fr Roydon created a cheerful and festive atmosphere for the birthday celebrants which were many in number.

The little guest Jahnavi of class 12 spoke on the occasion and mentioned that children should not lose sight of childhood memories and joy nor should they let fear overcome them in any way. She also thanked the school for organising such a great show and wished everyone a Happy Children’s Day.

The winners of various class-wise lucky games were felicitated during the prize distribution ceremony with attractive prizes filling the young hearts with pride.

The manager Dr John Baptist Saldanha conveyed warm wishes to all students on Children’s Day and mentioned that he is very happy on the occasion and called for good leadership from the Lourdites to build a good nation.

The stage then came alive with various entertainment shows starting with a puppet dance by the teachers of classes 1 and 2, which entertained the students thoroughly.

The teachers of classes 6 to 8 presented a hilarious comedy act that filled the campus with laughter.
The administrative, support and maintenance staff added a humorous twist with their entertaining lazy dance, which was met with loud cheers.

The principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira then addressed the gathering with encouraging words and mentioned that all students should come out in flying colours and mentioned that school gives various opportunities to all students and they need to utilise them. He also congratulated all the winners who have brought laurels to the school. He gratefully appreciated the efforts of the entire staff in putting up such a wonderful show.

The teachers of classes 3 to 5 presented a lively Dance Medley which made the children rise up and dance with them.

The excitement continued with a vibrant fashion walk by the teachers of classes 9 to 12, showcasing creativity and fun. The teachers dressed up in hilarious costumes walked the ramp which filled the audience with awe. The unbelievable entry of the principal on the ramp in cool clothes made the crowd cheer with excitement and amazement.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Seema Lobo and Vivita D’Souza who also compered the full programme, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event. Finally, the grand finale wishing song by the LCS staff and the distribution of ice cream by the school created a heartwarming ending, leaving the students smiling and full of joy.

The day was indeed a memorable one, filled with laughter, love, and the pure spirit of childhood — a perfect tribute to Chacha Nehru and the children who are the heart of Lourdes Central School.
