Saalumarada Thimmakka's death: No holiday for schools, colleges on Nov 15 ; fake order clarified

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Nov 15: Following the demise of Padma Shri awardee and environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka on November 14, rumours circulated on social media claiming that November 15 had been declared a government holiday for schools, colleges, and offices.

The department has clarified that no such holiday has been declared and that the viral order is fake. The alleged order circulating online had been falsely edited from an earlier notification issued at the time of former chief minister S M Krishna’s demise.

The officer whose signature appeared on the forged document is no longer serving in that post.

The Department of Information and Public Relations has confirmed that only state honours will be accorded for the final rites, and no public holiday has been announced.
