Mangaluru, Nov 14: The 43rd Poetica Kavighoshti was organised by Poetica - the poetry forum along with distribution of shoes, socks, and toys to students of Little Flower Higher Primary School, Kinnigoli, on Tuesday, November 11.
The programme began with a prayer song and a welcome dance performed by the school children. The headmistress, Sr Lilly Monica Rebello, welcomed everyone.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Dr Sr Lilly Pereira, provincial superior of the Bethany congregation, Mangalore province who presided over the programme.







































Explaining the purpose of the initiative, Poetica head Naveen Pereira, Surathkal, said, “Many children attend school wearing worn-out or old slippers, and when they see other children wearing shoes and socks, they too wish to have them. To fulfil this innate desire of underprivileged children we planned this project.”
The president of programme Dr Sr Lilly Pereira and chief guest Gilbert M N D’Souza, who is a social worker, praised Poetica for its commitment to social concern and literary service.
Other guests were Gregory Sequeira, Niddodi, and Mervin Alvin Crasta, vice president of the School Management Committee.
Later, under the moderation of renowned poet Jossy Pinto, Kinnigoli, the Kavighoshti was held, where social worker and noted poet Hemacharya, along with poets Lancy Sequeira Surathkal, Lydia D’Costa Derebail, Sabitha Fernandes Derebail, and Poetica head Naveen Pereira Surathkal, recited their poems.
Thereafter, Edward Lobo, Thokkottu, entertained the audience with his mimicry performance.
Finally, all the children were given free shoes, socks, and toys.
Sangeetha M Barky, assistant teacher compered the programme and Ashwini, assistant teacher, proposed the vote of thanks.
