Byndoor, Nov 13: A French groom and a Russian bride entered into wedlock in a traditional Hindu ceremony held at a mutt in Kollur. Krishna devotees from France, Narottam Das and Jahnavidevi Dasi, solemnized their marriage on November 7 in the presence of sacred fire and priests, following Vedic rituals.

The couple, both long-time Krishna devotees, had been engaged in scriptural studies and Kathak dance training in Vrindavan for several years. For the past four years, they had also been visiting the Abhaya Ayurvedic Centre in Kollur for Panchakarma treatment. During their visits, they expressed to Dr Srikanth, the physician at the centre, their wish to marry according to Indian cultural traditions.

Fulfilling their desire, the wedding ceremony was conducted by priest Shyamasundar Adiga Maravante.

The occasion was marked by a simple yet elegant ceremony. Guests enjoyed traditional local cuisine, and a team led by Sudhir Kodavoor presented classical music. Members of ‘Raga Dhana’ — K R Raghavendra Acharya, Lakshminarayana Upadhya, Sudhir Kodavoor, Balachandra Bhagavath, and Sharmila Rao — rendered melodious performances that added grace to the event.

The wedding was completely plastic-free, emphasizing cleanliness and environmental consciousness.
