Mangaluru, Nov 10: The 3rd edition of ‘Bale Tulu Paterga’ (Bale Tulu Paterga 2025) spoken class, jointly organised by the All America Tulu Association (AATA) and the Bunts Association of North America (BANA), commenced successfully with an opening ceremony held on November 2.
Esteemed guests of honour graced the event — renowned author and researcher Dr Vasantha Bharadwaj Kabbinale, BANA president Manjunatha Shetty, and AATA general secretary Puja Shetty. AATA president Shreevalli Rai presided over the function.

More than 50 enthusiastic participants from diverse age groups and various parts of the world registered and attended the opening ceremony, marking a significantly higher participation than in the previous two editions held over the past two years.
Dr Vasantha Bharadwaj, a distinguished scholar with numerous accolades for his contributions to Tulu literature and language, spoke eloquently in Tulu, highlighting the richness, variety, and softness of the language, and how it connects all people of Tulu origin — whether inherited or acquired through association. His speech was beautifully interwoven with traditional Tulu songs and a rich collection of proverbs unique to the region and its lifestyle.
Dr Bharadwaj also emphasised that all large-scale outcomes begin with small steps, and that AATA is undoubtedly paving the way for a lasting impact in preserving and promoting the Tulu language and culture for future generations.
BANA president Manjunatha Shetty, in his address, underscored the importance of learning Tulu and extended his best wishes to all participants. Both speakers appreciated AATA’s dedicated efforts to promote and preserve the Tulu language and culture, even while living far away from their homeland.
AATA general secretary Puja Shetty shared her personal story of how Tulu culture and community have influenced her character and professional life. Reflecting on her journey from college days in India to her current life in the USA, she expressed her pride in being a Tuluva and her gratitude for the opportunity to serve Tulu organizations and their cause.
