Beltangady, Nov 10: A notorious accused involved in several criminal cases has been arrested in connection with an attempted burglary at a house in Maladi village, Beltangady.

According to the complaint filed by Prakash Shetty (53), a resident of Maladi village, the house adjacent to his belongs to Prema Shetty, who has been living abroad for some time. As the house remained unoccupied, CCTV cameras were installed for security.

On the morning of November 9, Prema Shetty’s daughter informed the complainant that an unknown person was seen attempting to break into their house, as captured by the CCTV footage.

 

Acting immediately, Prakash Shetty rushed to the spot and saw an unidentified man standing on the roof, holding an iron rod. Upon noticing the complainant, the intruder jumped down and tried to escape.

When the complainant attempted to catch him, the accused attacked him with the iron rod. However, with the help of local residents, the accused was caught and later identified as Kiran, a native of Kerala and resident of Talapady.

The accused was handed over to Punjalakatta police, who registered a case under Crime No. 73/2025 under Sections 331(1), 62, 118(1), and 307 of the BNS Act.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused, Kiran, has been involved in a total of 13 criminal cases registered across Dakshina Kannada district, Mangaluru city, and the state of Kerala. Further investigation is underway.

    CCTV is very useful and keeps recording whatever comes across it. Sitting in gulf I watch what takes place in my compound/around the compound including passing cats & dogs including few birds. even chirping of birds and other noises. Thanks to the technology.👍
