Bantwal, Nov 10: Fraternity Sunday was celebrated with great devotion at St Joseph Church, Surikumeru.

Fr Maxin Rosario, estate manager of the Mangalore diocese, presided over the Holy Mass as the chief celebrant.

Addressing the faithful after the Eucharistic celebration, Fr Maxin said, “Dear brothers and sisters, as pilgrims of hope, let us form our faith centre into one family around the Holy Eucharist. By living in mutual harmony, we must bear witness to Christ and be a light in the lives of others.” He further added, “When we pray with faith, miracles can happen anywhere. Just as miracles took place in a church in Kerala, let us pray with faith that God’s grace may bring such blessings to Surikumeru church as well.”

Fr Victor D’Souza, a native priest of Surikumeru church, also participated in the Holy Mass. After the Mass, a grand Eucharistic procession was held from the church to Surikumeru Junction.

Following the Benediction, Fr Maxin Rosario honoured donors and contributors to the Fraternity Sunday celebration, including John Pereira, Preeti Lancy Pereira, Rita Suvaris, and Roshan Blanny D’Souza, by presenting them with shawls.

Church vice president Steven Prakash Martis, secretary Steven Alvin Pais, commissions’ coordinator and Catholic Sabha Surikumeru unit president Elias Pereira, former president Thomas Lasrado, and ward gurkars Mary D’Souza, Irene D’Souza, Preeti Suvaris, Remy D’Souza, and Michael M were present on the occasion.
