We can never be sure how many people have been declared dead and actually buried alive. I’ve read about several such incidents. When I was in the Gulf, an African colleague once told me about something that happened to his own family member. According to him, his sister was believed to be dead and taken for burial. After the coffin was lowered into the grave, people suddenly heard banging sounds from inside. Many who had gathered to pay their respects ran away in fear, but a few brave men opened the coffin and discovered that the “dead” woman was still alive. Remarkably, she went on to live for many more years, though the shock of that experience caused her to lose all her hair within days. If this man is destined to live, nothing can stop him.
