Thick fog and chilly weather blanket Dakshina Kannada

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Nov 8: As rainfall has subsided along the coastal belt over the past couple of days, the Dakshina Kannada district is now experiencing foggy and chilly weather. After months of cloudy skies during the monsoon, dense fog has returned to envelop the region, creating a misty atmosphere across several parts of the district.

Weather experts predict that such foggy conditions may continue for about a month, particularly in the greener regions of Bantwal and Puttur. In hilly and elevated areas such as Mudipu and Sajipa, the fog has completely blanketed the surroundings, reducing visibility to the extent that even roads are barely visible.

Due to the thick fog, all vehicles have been moving with headlights on for safety. Without headlights, it has become nearly impossible to see vehicles approaching from the opposite direction or from the sides.

The foggy mornings have also brought a noticeable chill across many parts of the district, with cold weather continuing from night till early morning. As the sun rises, the fog gradually clears, giving way to a warm and pleasant atmosphere.

Residents say the misty landscapes offer a thrilling natural beauty, with many stepping out to enjoy the serene experience of walking amidst the cool fog. The mist begins to form at night, and by early morning, dew-like droplets make the ground damp, resembling light rainfall.

Interestingly, even as Mangaluru city continues to develop rapidly, its outskirts such as Mudipu, Sajipa, and nearby areas have managed to preserve their lush greenery — now made even more picturesque by the early winter fog.
