Mumbai, Nov 7: In a remarkable recognition of its dynamic energy and unbreakable spirit, Mumbai has been crowned the Happiest City in Asia for 2025, according to a survey conducted by Time Out.

India’s commercial capital topped the list of the 10 Happiest Cities in Asia, celebrating the city’s infectious optimism, cultural diversity, and unyielding enthusiasm that Mumbaikars are globally admired for.

The ranking went beyond traditional indicators like environment, economy, and health, focusing instead on the lived experiences and emotions of residents. The survey gathered insights from over 18,000 urbanites across Asia, evaluating factors such as community bonding, green spaces, art and culture, nightlife, food, affordability, and overall quality of life.

An astounding 94% of Mumbaikars said their city actively brings them joy, while 89% revealed they feel happier in Mumbai than anywhere else they’ve lived. Adding to this, 88% noted that their fellow residents radiate cheerfulness, and 87% felt that the overall sense of happiness in the city has grown significantly in recent times.

Experts say Mumbai’s success lies in its rare balance — where chaos coexists with compassion, and ambition thrives alongside cheer. With its pulsating nightlife, thriving arts scene, and reputation as Asia’s street food capital, Mumbai continues to embody the true essence of urban happiness.

The Time Out list of the 10 Happiest Cities in Asia for 2025 includes:

1. Mumbai, India

2. Beijing, China

3. Shanghai, China

4. Chiang Mai, Thailand

5. Hanoi, Vietnam

6. Jakarta, Indonesia
