Mangaluru: Alert citizen helps police nab wanted housebreak offender

Mangaluru, Nov 6: A prompt call from a vigilant citizen led to the arrest of a woman wanted in a previous housebreak case in the city on Wednesday morning.

At around 9:45 am, Mangaluru resident Deekshit noticed four women moving suspiciously near the Gorigudda area and immediately alerted the police control room (112). Acting swiftly, a police team was dispatched to the spot and apprehended the women within five minutes.

During questioning, it was found that one of the women, identified as Sivagami, a resident of Holenarsipur, was a known offender in a past housebreak case registered at Kadri police station. She had been absconding for some time. Sivagami was subsequently arrested and sent to judicial custody in connection with the earlier case.

Police stated that there were no criminal records against the other three women. They also appreciated the alertness of the citizen whose timely action helped in apprehending the accused.

Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, emphasizing that one responsible call can make a significant difference in ensuring community safety.
