Drake Maye breaks Mahomes’ record as Patriots Edge Falcons in thriller

Daijiworld Media Network – Atlanta

Atlanta, Nov 3: The New England Patriots extended their dominant run on Sunday, defeating the Atlanta Falcons 24-23 in a dramatic finish that came down to a missed extra point. Rookie kicker Parker Romo’s failed PAT after Michael Penix Jr’s late touchdown proved costly, handing the Patriots their sixth consecutive victory and improving their season record to 7-2.

Quarterback Drake Maye once again showcased his rising stardom, completing 19 of 29 passes for 259 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, earning a 102.5 passer rating against one of the league’s strongest defenses. Supported by a solid running game and precise route running from Stefon Diggs and Demario “Pop” Douglas, Maye controlled the tempo early before weathering the Falcons’ late surge.

In addition to leading his team to another win, Maye also rewrote NFL history. His latest outing marked his eighth straight game with at least 200 passing yards and a passer rating of 100 or higher, breaking Patrick Mahomes’ previous record for quarterbacks under 24. Mahomes had set the benchmark in 2018 with seven such games during his MVP campaign.

As NFL+ highlighted on X, “Drake Maye passes Patrick Mahomes for the longest streak of games with 200+ pass yards and a 100+ passer rating by a player under the age of 24 all-time (8).”

Through nine games this season, Maye has been remarkably consistent, throwing for 2,285 yards, 17 touchdowns, and just four interceptions — establishing himself as one of the NFL’s most promising young quarterbacks.

Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs endured a tough 28-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills, with Mahomes managing only a 44.1% completion rate and 250 passing yards. As the Chiefs head into their Week 10 bye, the Patriots prepare for their next challenge — an away clash against Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

With history on his side and momentum building, Drake Maye’s rise continues to capture the attention of football fans across the league.
