Nyon, Nov 1: Bayern Munich’s iconic stadium is set to host the UEFA Champions League final in 2028, while the 2029 final will be decided between London’s Wembley Stadium and Barcelona’s newly renovated Camp Nou, UEFA announced on Friday.

The European football body confirmed the list of interested bidders among its member associations, putting to rest speculation about a possible final in New York—at least until 2030. “The declarations of interest are not binding, and the final proposals must be delivered with the bid dossiers by June 10,” UEFA stated.

Munich, the sole bidder for the 2028 final, last hosted the prestigious match in 2025, while Wembley staged it in 2024. Barcelona’s Camp Nou, currently under renovation to expand capacity to 105,000—Europe’s largest—has not hosted a final since 1999, when Manchester United famously defeated Bayern Munich with two stoppage-time goals.

UEFA’s executive committee will make its final decision on the 2028 and 2029 club competition finals in September next year. The upcoming 2026 final will be played at Budapest’s Puskas Arena, with Atletico Madrid’s stadium lined up for 2027.

Meanwhile, several other European venues are vying for finals of the Europa League, Conference League, and Women’s Champions League. Italy’s Juventus Stadium in Turin, Romania’s National Stadium in Bucharest, and France’s Parc des Princes and Lyon’s home ground are among the candidates.

New stadiums in Belgrade and Ankara are also in contention for hosting rights, while Helsinki Olympic Stadium and Dublin’s Aviva Stadium have entered the race for the 2029 finals.

The Puskas Arena, Lille’s home ground, Arena Gdansk in Poland, and venues in Kazakhstan are also bidding for lower-tier European finals. Lyon and Basel’s St. Jakob Park are competing for the Women’s Champions League final slots in 2028 and 2029.
