Navi Mumbai, Oct 31: A massive fire broke out at the Swiggy Instamart outlet near the old RTO office in Vashi on Friday morning, triggering panic among nearby shopkeepers and residents.
According to officials, the blaze erupted around 9.08 am and spread rapidly across three adjoining commercial units (Shop Nos. 18, 19, and 20) in the Goodwill Building, Sector 19B, which houses the quick-commerce grocery hub.

Firefighting teams from Vashi and Nerul fire stations rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the alert. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
Speaking to PTI, Purushottam Jadhav, officer with the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Fire Department, said, “Four fire engines were deployed to control the intense flames. Our team acted swiftly and efficiently, preventing the fire from spreading further into the commercial complex.”
The fire was brought under control after a sustained effort of nearly an hour. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and investigations are underway to determine whether it was due to an electrical short circuit or other reasons.
Authorities have cordoned off the affected area and initiated an inspection to assess property damage and ensure building safety before reopening adjacent shops.
