Mangaluru: Surathkal police nab four in brutal knife attack; hunt on for two key accused

Mangaluru, Oct 24: Surathkal police have arrested four individuals, including three alleged attackers and a man who provided them shelter, in connection with a shocking knife attack near the Kaanaa area on Thursday night.

The arrests came a day after two young men, Hasan Mukshit and Nizam, were viciously attacked over a trivial dispute near a local bar at around 10:30 pm.

Those taken into custody include Sushanth alias Kadavi, 29, a resident of Kaanaa, Surathkal; K V Alex, 27; Nitin, 26, and Arun Shetty, 56, all from Surathkal, who reportedly provided shelter to the accused.

The police have confirmed that two key suspects, Gururaj Achari and Ashok, who had also provided shelter alongside Arun Shetty, are still at large, and the search for them is ongoing.

According to police sources, the attack was carried out by individuals with prior criminal records.

“Gururaj Achari, Alex Santosh, Nitin, and Sushanth have all been involved in several previous cases. Their actions on Thursday night were reckless and violent,” said a senior officer.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of deputy commissioner of police Ravishankar and assistant commissioner of police Srikanth K, led by Surathkal police inspector Pramod Kumar P.

The special investigation team included multiple PSIs and ASIs, along with personnel from the Crime Control Branch (CCB) and the dog squad, ensuring swift action in tracking down the culprits.
