New York, Oct 23: In an electrifying encounter at Madison Square Garden, the New York Knicks outplayed the Cleveland Cavaliers with an 8-point victory, sealing the game 119-111. The Cavaliers showed fighting spirit in the third quarter but the Knicks’ strong finish in the final stretch ensured their triumph.
The Knicks started strong, taking an early lead in the first half. However, the momentum briefly shifted in the third quarter when Donovan Mitchell powered the Cavaliers back into contention. Mitchell put up a spectacular performance, scoring 21 points in the third quarter alone, closing the 15-point deficit from the first half. He ended the game with 31 points, 2 rebounds, and 5 assists, emerging as the standout performer for Cleveland.

Mitchell found support in Evan Mobley, who added 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists, helping the Cavaliers stay competitive.
For the Knicks, it was a complete team effort led by OG Anunoby, Jalen Brunson, and Karl-Anthony Towns. Anunoby starred with 24 points, 14 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Brunson followed with 23 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Towns came alive in the crucial fourth quarter, adding 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 assists, guiding the Knicks to victory.
In the final quarter, the Knicks’ dominance was evident as Anunoby and Towns extended the lead early on, while Miles McBride’s 3-pointer widened the gap further. Despite Mitchell’s heroics, the Cavaliers could not keep up with the Knicks’ pace in the closing minutes.
The Cavaliers’ valiant comeback effort fell short, but their spirited play — especially Mitchell’s offensive brilliance — promises an exciting season ahead for their fans.
