Mangaluru, Oct 20: The Ullal police have arrested a man for the alleged repeated sexual assault of his minor stepdaughter over several years. The accused has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The arrested individual has been identified as Amir (40), a resident of Masthikatte.

According to the police, the shocking case came to light only recently. The accused is alleged to have begun sexually assaulting the girl when she was just seven years old. The abuse continued relentlessly, and the victim is now 12 years old.

It is reported that family members, fearing dishonor, did not file a formal complaint. The case was uncovered on November 18 when the girl's parents took her to a hospital as she was mentally distressed. During the examination, doctors investigated her condition, leading to the revelation of the ongoing abuse.

The Ullal police, upon being notified, registered a case and subsequently arrested the stepfather.
