Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Oct 19: Central Railway (Mumbai Division) has announced a mega block on its Main Line suburban sections on Sunday, affecting train services between Vidyavihar and Thane stations for essential engineering and maintenance work.

The block will be in effect on the 5th and 6th lines of the Main Line from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm. As a result, some Mail and Express trains will be temporarily diverted to the Up Fast line at Thane and will be re-diverted at Vidyavihar, causing an expected delay of 10 to 15 minutes for passengers.

On the Harbour Line, the block will impact:

• Down Harbour Line: CSMT – Chunabhatti / Bandra from 11:40 am to 4:40 pm

• Up Harbour Line: Chunabhatti / Bandra – CSMT from 11:10 am to 4:10 pm

To ease commuter inconvenience, special services will operate between Panvel and Kurla (Platform No. 8) at a frequency of every 20 minutes during the block period. Harbour Line passengers are also permitted to travel via the Main Line and Western Railway sections until 6:00 pm.

Officials noted that there will be no rail block on Western Railway suburban sections on Sunday due to Diwali festivities. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and expect minor delays during the maintenance work.
