New Delhi, Oct 19: In a shocking incident that unfolded in the heart of the national capital, a domestic dispute fueled by an alleged extramarital affair claimed two lives late Thursday night in Delhi’s Ram Nagar area.
According to police reports, Shalini (22), a pregnant homemaker and mother of two daughters, was brutally stabbed to death in public by her lover, Aashu alias Shailendra (34). Moments later, her husband Akash (23), an e-rickshaw driver, retaliated and fatally stabbed Aashu while trying to defend his wife.

The tragic chain of events began when Shalini and her husband had gone to meet her mother near Qutub Road. Aashu, said to be a local criminal, suddenly confronted the couple and first attacked Akash with a knife. When Akash managed to escape the blow, Aashu turned his rage toward Shalini, stabbing her multiple times as bystanders watched in horror.
In a desperate attempt to save his wife, Akash fought back, managing to snatch the knife and stab Aashu. Both Shalini and Aashu succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, while Akash remains in critical condition.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nidhin Valsan confirmed that a case of murder and attempted murder has been registered based on the complaint of Shalini’s mother, Sheila. The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Shalini and Akash’s marriage had gone through a rough patch a few years ago, during which she developed a relationship with Aashu and even lived with him for a period. However, the couple later reconciled and resumed living together with their two children.
Police sources added that Aashu was enraged over Shalini’s decision to return to her husband, claiming she was pregnant with his child. The gruesome incident has sent shockwaves through the locality, with residents expressing deep concern over the rising number of violent crimes linked to personal disputes in the city.
