Hindu trader kidnapped in Pakistan


Islamabad, Feb 13 (IANS) A Hindu trader has been kidnapped in Pakistan's Balochistan province, police said.

Sham Lal, a resident of Khuzdar, was kidnapped Sunday, the Daily Times reported.

The trader and his family were on their way from Khuzdar to Karachi in a car when a group of armed men intercepted them. They abducted him at gunpoint but left his family in the car.

Khuzdar is around 270 km from provincial capital Quetta.

No one has claimed responsibility for the incident.

The Hindu community later closed down their businesses in protest and took out a rally to condemn the kidnapping.
