Mangaluru, Oct 14: The Ladies Social Service League (LSSL) of St Sebastian Church, Bendur, joyfully celebrated their 89th Annual Feast on October 13 with deep faith, unity, and gratitude.

The celebration began with a thanksgiving mass celebrated by Fr Amruth Praveen Martis, administrator of St Antony’s Ashram, Jeppu, and director of the LSSL. He was assisted by Fr Vivek Pinto, assistant parish priest of Bendur.

In his homily, Fr Amruth Praveen Martis reflected on the Christian call to serve with love and humility. He appreciated the League members for their selfless commitment to social and charitable works, describing them as “pillars of silent service” within the parish community.

After the Mass, the cultural celebration was held in the Community Hall, with Fr Amruth Praveen Martis as the chief guest. Also present were Vinod D’Souza, vice president of the parish pastoral council, Deepak D’Souza, all commissions convenor, and the LSSL central office bearers —Saritha Lobo (secretary), Janet Caldeira (vice president), and Janet Pais (treasurer).

The program began with a prayer song by the LSSL members, followed by a welcome address by Flany D’Souza, president. Asha Tauro, secretary, presented the annual report, summarizing the year’s activities and achievements.

In his message, Fr Amruth Praveen Martis expressed his joy in visiting Bendur parish for the first time after taking charge as LSSL director, saying that a first visit to any parish always remains special and memorable. He congratulated the members on celebrating the 89th Feast of the League and expressed his heartfelt wish that they joyfully celebrate their 100th anniversary in the coming years.

Encouraging growth and participation, he urged members to “each bring one new member” to strengthen the association’s mission and outreach. He concluded by wishing and praying for all members, that God may bless their service and continue to inspire them in their journey of faith and compassion.

Vinod D’Souza, vice president, conveyed his greetings and appreciation to the League members for their dedication and active involvement in parish life.

The event featured songs, skits, and humorous performances presented by the members, which kept the audience entertained. Flany D’Souza conducted fun games, and prizes were distributed to the winners.

Philomena Moras proposed the vote of thanks, while Voilet Lasrado efficiently compered the program. The celebration concluded with refreshments, marking the end of a joyful evening filled with fellowship, gratitude, and laughter.
