Passenger detained at Mangaluru International Airport for carrying hydroponic ganja

Mangaluru, Oct 14: A domestic arrival passenger was detained by the CISF at Mangaluru International Airport on Monday October 13 after he was found carrying hydroponic ganja in his checked-in baggage.

According to sources, information was received that a domestic arrival passenger, identified as Shankar Narayan Poddar, who arrived from Mumbai by Indigo flight at 6.10 pm on October 13 might be in possession of narcotic substances.

Acting on the input, the CIW team of CISF, along with the shift IC and GO IC, detained the passenger upon his arrival. During further enquiry, approximately 512 grams of hydroponic ganja was recovered from his checked-in baggage.

The CISF subsequently informed the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Bengaluru, and the local police about the incident. The detained passenger, along with the seized substance weighing about 500 grams, was later handed over to Bajpe police station for further legal action.
