Chandigarh, Oct 12: The Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has successfully arrested two members associated with the notorious Davinder Bambiha gang and seized six pistols from their possession, Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav announced on Sunday.
The apprehended suspects have been identified as Sandeep Singh from Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, and Sekher from Kaithal, Haryana. The recovered arsenal includes one PX5 pistol, one .30 bore pistol, four .32 bore pistols, and 19 cartridges. Authorities also confiscated a Maruti Swift car used by the duo to transport the weapons.
Initial investigations indicate that the accused were acting under the instructions of foreign-based handlers, with plans to supply firearms to the gang’s foot soldiers to carry out high-profile criminal activities within Punjab. Efforts are ongoing to trace and dismantle the entire arms supply network.

AGTF Additional Director General of Police Promod Ban revealed that the arrest came after receiving specific human intelligence and technical inputs about a conspiracy hatched by the Bambiha gang’s operatives to facilitate crimes in the state.
In a coordinated operation supervised by Assistant Inspector General Sandeep Goel and involving the Barnala police, the suspects were detained from Dhaula village on the Barnala-Bathinda main road. The arrest teams were led by Inspector Vikram (AGTF) and Inspector Baljit Singh (Barnala Crime Investigation Agency).
Both accused have prior criminal records, including cases under the Arms Act. Following the arrest, the Barnala police registered cases under Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 25 of the Arms Act.
Senior Superintendent of Police Mohammad Sarfaraz Alam confirmed that further investigations are underway, with expectations of additional arrests and seizures in the near future.
