Beltangady, Oct 9: In a swift operation, Venoor forest officials raided Palladadi in Savanalu village of Beltangady after receiving credible information about illegal tree felling and seizure preparations. The incident took place on Wednesday.
Around 15 to 20 Acacia and Mangium trees on government land were reportedly cut down for sale. Acting on the information, a team led by Venoor range forest officer Bharat U G conducted a raid and seized the felled logs along with a vehicle that was kept ready for transportation.

It is alleged that a local resident, Benniprasad, had cut down the trees from the adjoining government land without obtaining any official permission. A report regarding the incident has been submitted to the Beltangady court, and a case has been registered for further investigation.
