Mumbai (RBI), Oct 8: With the approval of the hon’ble Congress president, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has announced the formation of the new Political Affairs Committee (PAC) and the appointment of office bearers for the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC). The order, issued by AICC general secretary K C Venugopal (M.P.), comes into immediate effect as per the press release.

The press release also disclosed the approval of the proposal regarding the appointment of MRCC executive members, spokespersons, social media coordinator, and presidents of six District Congress committees. Among the notable appointments from the Tulu-Kannada and Konkani-speaking political community in Mumbai, former Maharashtra State minister Suresh H. Shetty has been appointed to the Political Affairs Committee (PAC), and Janet Lawrence D’Souza has been appointed as senior vice president of the MRCC.

Executive Committee and Office Bearers:

Vice President: Clive Dias Barkur (Former Corporator)

General Secretaries: Kamalesh S. Shetty, Rakesh Shetty, Anand Kumar Rai, Rajeev Shetty

Secretaries: Ivan D’Souza Shirva, Suresh Sundar Shetty

Social Media Coordinator: Rekha Rao. The party has also appointed Presidents for six district committees across Mumbai.

Suresh Hiryanna Shetty: Originally from Ellur (Manipura), Udupi District, he is the son of the late Hiryanna Shetty and Shivani H. Shetty. He earlier served as MLA from Andheri East and as a Cabinet-rank Minister in the Maharashtra Government.

Janet Lawrence D’Souza: A member of the AICC Committee and former President of the Mumbai Pradesh Mahila Congress, Janet hails from Kirem Damaskatte, Mangalore Taluk. She is the daughter of the late Celine D’Silva, former Minister in the Maharashtra Government. Janet currently runs an educational institution in Amrut Nagar, Ghatkopar, Mumbai.

Clive Dias Barkur: A native of Barkur, Udupi District, son of George Dias and Jethu Dias, Clive served as President of the Andheri East Youth Congress for 15 years and as President of Congress (I) Block-51. He is a well-known former BMC Corporator and presently serves as President of the Mumbai North-West District Congress Committee (Andheri East).

Ivan D’Souza Shirva: A dedicated Congress worker from Vikhroli East, Ivan hails from Pilarkana near Shirva in Udupi District, and is the son of Felix D’Souza and Eliza D’Souza.

Kamalesh S. Shetty: A native of Uchila, Ullal, Mangalore (Dakshina Kannada District), Kamalesh is the son of Sanjeev Someshwar and Krishnamma Sanjeev. He is a noted social worker from Borivali, active in the Congress party since his days in the NSUI, and has also contested BMC Corporator elections.
