Nagpur, Oct 7: Acting on complaints of rampant commission-taking in property registrations, Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule conducted a surprise inspection at the Sub-Registrar’s Office in Kotwalnagar on Ring Road.

During the raid, Bawankule reportedly found irregularities in the registry process and discovered cash in the drawer of an official. It has been alleged that a commission of Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000 was being charged per registry at the office.

Following the inspection, the Minister confirmed that the Sub-Registrar, Anil Kaple, was found guilty of misconduct. Police have begun an inquiry into the matter.

Bawankule stated that complaints were received about officials demanding money for registry approvals and clearing documents even when not fully compliant. He emphasized that strict action will be taken against those found involved in corruption.
