Bantwal, Oct 6: A preparatory meeting was held on Sunday evening at the premises of Sri Annapoorneshwari Nagadevara Temple in B C Road ahead of the felicitation ceremony to be held on November 18 at Sparsha Kalamandira, B C Road, in honour of former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Dharmadarshi Harikrishna Punaroor and former minister B Ramanath Rai.
Addressing the gathering, committee president Kaiyoor Narayan Bhat said that the felicitation is being organised in recognition of the contributions made by both leaders to various religious fields across the district. “It is our duty to honour them, and hence this event has been arranged in a non-political manner,” he said. The day-long programme will include a religious ceremony in the morning, followed by the felicitation and cultural events. Edneer Swamiji will deliver the benediction, and around 1,500 people are expected to attend, he added while outlining the event details.

Committee general convener Jagannath Chowta Badigudde said the event is of great importance as it aims to introduce their service and achievements to the next generation. “They should feel a sense of fulfillment that society remembers their contributions. Therefore, the event must be organised smoothly without any confusion,” he added.
Advocates Chandrashekar Poojary and Ravindra Kukkaje, and social leader Kishore Bhandary Belluru shared their suggestions. Dharmadarshi Arun Karambade of Karambade area, Prabhakar Shetty Kanthadiguttu, president of the Nandavar Temple Management Committee, entrepreneur Jagath Poojary, committee treasurer Ram Ganesh Prabhu B C Road, and joint secretary Shailesh Kuchchigudde were present.
Committee general secretary Devappa Kulal Panjikallu welcomed the gathering, and Anaru Krishna Sharma proposed the vote of thanks.
