Udupi, Oct 5: Nadoja Dr G Shankar’s biography book ‘Samaja Seva Harikara’ written by Uday Kumar Hattiyangadi depicting the inspiring life journey of noted social worker and entrepreneur Nadoja Dr G Shankar, was released on his 70th birthday. The book was unveiled by Dr H S Ballal, pro-chancellor of MAHE, Manipal, during a press conference held at Shamili Hall, Ambalpady.
Speaking at the event, Dr H S Ballal, pro-chancellor of MAHE, Manipal said that “Dr G Shankar initially refused to write about his achievements. When he finally agreed, we wanted to release it today, as it marks his 70th birthday. I have known him for over two decades. He is not just a friend but an inspiration. Shankar was born into struggle; he knows what poverty means. His success didn’t come overnight; it is the result of hard work and perseverance. From starting as a small contractor in Vijayapura (Bijapur), he rose to become an ‘A’ grade PWD contractor. Alongside his business success, he is deeply involved in social service, contributing immensely to education, healthcare, and cultural activities. I wish him many more years of dedicated service to society,” he stated.

Dr Gayatri Navada, who conceptualised the book along with Prof A V Navada, said that “Dr G Shankar has everything, yet he continues to live simply that is what makes him truly great. While many divide themselves by caste and religion, he treats everyone equally, valuing humanity above all. Though he was hesitant about a book being written on him, we felt it was our responsibility, not just a task. This book is not only about Shankar, but for the people who will read it and be inspired. Today’s generation often forgets their roots this book will serve as a flashback, a motivation for many to follow his path. I bless Dr Shankar and his family to continue their noble service”.
Uday Kumar, author of the book stated that “Writing about such a great personality is a blessing. I have known Dr Shankar for 26 years, observing his journey closely. This book is a guide for the younger generation, a story of inspiration. Initially, he refused my request to write the book, so I began working on it without his consent. A year later, when I approached him again, he agreed. I wrote this book with full confidence, supported by Prof A V Navada and Dr Gayatri Navada”.
