Jalna, Oct 5: A tragic incident has shaken the Ambad taluk of Jalna district, where a 12-year-old boy drowned while swimming with his friends in Pazar Lake on Saturday, October 4.
The deceased has been identified as Ranveer Vilas Rathod (12), a resident of Lalwadi Tanda area, located near survey number 189 of Ambad taluk. Ranveer, a Class 6 student known for his active participation in sports and good academic performance, had reportedly skipped school during the afternoon break to go swimming with two or three of his friends in the nearby Pazar Lake.

According to police reports, the boys entered the water without realising its depth. Ranveer soon lost balance and was swept away. His friends and nearby residents raised an alarm and tried to rescue him, but their efforts failed.
As news of the incident spread, around 20 to 25 local youths immediately joined the search operation. The Ambad Municipal Council’s rescue team was also called in to assist. The rescue operation, which began in the afternoon, continued for several hours. Tragically, Ranveer’s body was recovered around 5:15 pm.
The boy’s body was taken to Ambad Sub-District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The sight of their son’s lifeless body left Ranveer’s parents inconsolable, their cries moving everyone present to tears.
The entire Lalwadi Tanda and Ambad town community has been plunged into grief following the heartbreaking loss of the young boy. Police have registered a case at Ambad Police Station, and further investigation into the incident is underway.
