Maharashtra man allegedly drowns infant son before taking his own life

Beed, Oct 5: In a tragic incident in Beed district, a man allegedly drowned his four-month-old son in a drum of water before ending his own life, police said on Saturday.

The incident occurred in Talwada village of Georai taluka. The man, identified as Amol Sonavane, reportedly placed his infant in a half-filled blue drum and later committed suicide.

Police sources revealed that Sonavane had a history of suicide attempts. Just a few days prior, he and his wife allegedly tried to take their lives following a domestic dispute but were rescued in time and discharged from a local hospital on Thursday.

The bodies of Amol Sonavane and his son have been sent to Talwara Primary Health Centre for post-mortem examination. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
