Manish Sureshkumar, Vaishnavi Adkar win Fenesta National titles

New Delhi, Oct 4: Tamil Nadu’s Manish Sureshkumar and Maharashtra’s Vaishnavi Adkar emerged victorious in the men’s and women’s singles finals at the 30th Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship, held at the DLTA Complex in New Delhi on Saturday.

Manish delivered a solid performance in the men’s singles final, defeating Keerthivassan Suresh 6-4, 6-2 in a two-hour contest marked by sharp rallies and momentum swings. After an early exchange of breaks, Manish found his rhythm, broke back to take control of the first set, and carried that momentum into a dominant second set to claim the title.

In the women’s singles final, Vaishnavi Adkar proved too strong for Akanksha Nitture, securing a commanding 6-1, 6-2 win. With early breaks in both sets and consistent baseline play, Vaishnavi maintained pressure throughout the match, sealing her championship with clinical precision.

The tournament also saw intense action in the Under-18 categories. Harshini N battled past Snigdha Kanta 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 in a three-hour thriller to take the girls’ singles title. On the boys’ side, Tavish Pahwa claimed victory after Hruthik Katakam retired mid-match, with the score at 7-6(2), 1-0.

In doubles, Nitin Kumar Sinha and Maan Kesharwani edged out Manish Sureshkumar and Abhinav Sanjeev S in a nail-biting men’s final, winning 6-4, 3-6, [10-5]. Akanksha Nitture found success in women’s doubles alongside Soha Sadiq, as the duo beat Pooja Ingale and Yubrani Banerjee 6-2, 6-2.

In junior doubles action, Vraj H. Gohil and Prakaash Sarran rallied to defeat Karan Thapa and Channamallikarjuna Yale 2-6, 7-5, [10-5] in the boys' U-18 final. Meanwhile, Savitha Bhuvaneswaran and Aahan clinched the girls’ U-18 title with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Akansha Ghosh and Deepshika V.

Backed by DCM Shriram Ltd., and organized under the aegis of the All India Tennis Association (AITA) and the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association (DLTA), the Fenesta Open continues to stand as India’s premier domestic tennis event. With a prize pool of over Rs 21.55 lakh, the tournament also offers kit allowances and Rs 25,000 scholarships to U14 and U16 singles winners and runners-up. Qualifying and main draw matches in the U14 and U16 categories will run from October 5 to 11.
