Udupi district team wins first prize at Mysuru Dasara Jamboo Savari parade

The Dasara procession and Panjina Kavayathu sub-committee has announced prizes for the art troupes that showcased outstanding performances during the Mysuru Dasara Jamboo Savari parade.

The ‘Hulivesha’ (tiger dance) team of Padubailur, Udupi district, led by Nagaraj Aithal, bagged the first prize and received a cash award of Rs 15,000.

The second prize went to the Gorava Kunita performances, shared by R M Shivamallu of the Bhakta Kanakadasa Gorava Kunita troupe from Chamarajanagar district and Channamallegowda of the Sharapani Mailaralingeshwara Gorava team from Kuvempunagar, Mysuru. Both received Rs 5,000 each.

The teams from Parvati Mallappa Sangolga of Bidar and Gandhi Nagar Tanda of Yadgir secured the third place, winning Rs 2,500 each. The announcement was made by Seema Latkar, deputy special officer of the Dasara procession and Panjina Kavayathu sub-committee.

A total of 60 tableaux and more than 90 art troupes participated in the grand Vijayadashami procession held on October 2.
