Udupi, Oct 4: A major fire broke out at the dumping yard in Alevoor belonging to Udupi City Municipality on Friday, causing extensive damage. The yard, where city waste is collected and processed, was severely affected in the incident.
Fire and emergency services personnel, with the help of local residents, managed to bring the blaze under control after intense efforts.
According to sources, the fire is suspected to have originated from the waste materials. While the exact extent of the loss is yet to be determined, preliminary reports indicate substantial damage.
