Udupi, Oct 3: An auto lost control and fell into a roadside drain near the drinking water pumping station said to belong to Manipal Eshwar Nagar Municipality.
Though the roadsides have been levelled, a proper drain has not been constructed, leading to the mishap. The auto overturned in the opposite direction and was completely damaged.
It is said that the driver, who is reportedly suffering from epilepsy, fell unconscious while driving, following which the auto veered off and plunged into the drain.
Fortunately, no passengers were inside the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Manipal police have registered a case and are investigating.
