Jaipur, Oct 3: Bajrang Singh, a former National Security Guard (NSG) commando who participated in the 26/11 Mumbai anti-terror operation, has been arrested for heading a ganja smuggling network in Rajasthan. Singh was apprehended on Wednesday night in Churu with 200 kg of the banned drug, police said. Inspector General of Police Vikas Kumar confirmed that Singh, a resident of Sikar district, had been under surveillance and carried a reward of Rs 25,000. The arrest followed two months of operations under ‘Operation Gaanjaney’ by the Anti-Terrorist Squad and Anti-Narcotics Task Force.

Bajrang Singh had joined the Border Security Force after Class 10 and later served in the NSG, participating in counter-terror operations including the 26/11 attacks. In 2021, Singh shifted focus to politics, returning to his village and becoming active in local elections. During this period, he came in contact with individuals linked to criminal activities and became involved in large-scale ganja smuggling, transporting consignments across state borders.

The police tracked Singh through communications with his trusted cook and identified his hideouts in Ratangarh, Churu. After monitoring him, they executed a well-planned raid to arrest him safely. IGP Vikas Kumar described the operation as a major achievement in dismantling the terror-narcotics nexus in Rajasthan.
