Ammi Rangakarmi to stage Konkani play ‘Nandadeep’ in Mumbai

Mumbai, Oct 3: Ammi Rangakarmi, a renowned Konkani-Kannada theatre group and event coordinator, will present a special religious assembly and stage the Konkani play ‘Nandadeep’ on Saturday, October 4, at 4 pm. The event will be held at the B N Vaidya Sabhagraha, Hindu Colony, Dadar (East), in the premises of Raja Shivaji Vidyalaya, under the auspices of Indian Education Society, Mumbai.

The programme is being organised under the guidance of Dr Chandrashekhar Shenai, director of Ammi Rangakarmi, with the support of academicians and patrons Satish Lotlikar and Satish Rama Naik.

The event will be graced by the divine presence of Shri Kaivalya Mathadheesh, Shri Shivananad Saraswati Swamiji, who will be accorded a full Kumbh welcome by the organisers. Distinguished guests, artists, cultural leaders, entrepreneurs, and donors will be present to inaugurate the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Swamiji will also bless the assembled audience and art enthusiasts.

During the occasion, eminent personalities from Mumbai’s cultural, industrial, and artistic circles will be felicitated by Shri Kaivalya Mathadheesh.

The Konkani play ‘Nandadeep’, adapted from the original Marathi play ‘Diva Jalude Sari Rat’ by Madhusudan Kalelkar, has been translated by Dr Chandrashekhar Shenai. The play will be presented by Ammi Rangakarmi and Gurukripa Kalarang artists, along with performers from Dahisar.

The organisers have requested free entry for all Konkani community members, and a large gathering of art enthusiasts and members of the Konkani and Kannada communities is expected to attend. The audience will have the opportunity to witness the divine grace of the guru and enjoy the cultural presentation.
