Bengaluru, Oct 2: Chief minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday said that whenever darkness in the form of hatred, violence and injustice surrounds society, people are reminded time and again of the life-affirming ideals shown by Mahatma Gandhi.
In a post on social media platform X, he conveyed greetings on the occasion of the 156th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation.

“Whenever darkness in the form of hatred, violence and injustice surrounds us, we are reminded of the ideals of Bapu’s life-affirming thoughts and path. The world still identifies India as Gandhi’s India, which I believe is the true honour given to that saint. My wish is that Gandhism remains eternal,” he said.
Deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar in his post said, “Be the change you want to see in the world. On the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the embodiment of truth, religious harmony and humanity, respectful tributes to the Father of the Nation. On this World Non-Violence Day, observed in honour of Bapuji’s principle of non-violence, let us follow his path and work towards building a peaceful and harmonious society. May his thoughts always inspire the world.”
In another post, he also remembered former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary.
“On the birth anniversary of former prime minister and Bharat Ratna Lal Bahadur Shastri, the embodiment of simplicity who gave the country a new direction with the slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,’ I offer my respectful tributes. His sacrifice, honesty and determination will always inspire us,” he said.
