Goa power bills to rise: JERC approves 5-year tariff hike

Daijiworld Media Network - Panaji

Panaji, Oct 1: Electricity consumers in Goa are set to face higher power bills, as the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) has approved a series of annual tariff hikes over the next five years.

Starting October 1, 2025, electricity tariffs will increase by an average of 4% annually, continuing through the 2029–30 financial year. The revised structure aims to ensure financial sustainability and improve service delivery, according to the commission.

The JERC, which regulates power tariffs in Goa and several Union Territories, said the decision was taken after reviewing long-term cost projections and infrastructure upgrade requirements.

While detailed consumer category-wise rates are yet to be released, the announcement confirms that Goans should prepare for steadily rising electricity costs over the coming years.
