Mangaluru, Oct 1: For the first time in its 175-year history, Wenlock District Government Hospital conducted angioplasty and angiogram procedures on Monday. The historic procedures were carried out under the guidance of cardiologist Dr Narasimha Pai from Kasturba Medical College (KMC), along with Dr Shodhan, Dr Vijay, and nursing officer Mary.

A recently inaugurated cath lab at Wenlock Hospital, set up at a cost of Rs 5 crore, now provides access to specialist care from KMC doctors.

The cath lab is fully operational, offering free treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme for patients holding BPL (Below Poverty Line) cards. Necessary stents, medicines, and other medical equipment are supplied by Wenlock Hospital.

The hospital release stated that gradually, additional medical services will be integrated into the cath lab, further enhancing cardiac care facilities for patients in the region.
